Check tire pressure and tread, top off washer fluid, look for new fluid spots where you park, and test all exterior lights.

Spring and fall

Spring: wash the undercarriage to clear road salt, inspect brakes and suspension after pothole season, check the cabin air filter and air conditioning before the heat.

Fall: test the battery, check heater and defroster operation, inspect wiper blades and tire tread before wet and cold weather.

By mileage

Oil and filter on your manufacturer's interval, tire rotation with most oil services, brake inspection at least once a year, and fluid checks for coolant, brake, and transmission per the manual.
