Why Is My Car AC Not Blowing Cold?
In a humid Maryland summer, weak air conditioning is more than comfort: it affects visibility when you need to defog the glass. Weak cooling usually comes from one of three areas.
Refrigerant and leaks
An air conditioning system is sealed. If refrigerant is low, it leaked. Adding more without finding the leak buys a few weeks and can damage the compressor if oil escaped with it.
Proper service means locating the leak, repairing it, then evacuating and recharging to the correct specification.
Airflow and electrical
A clogged cabin air filter, a failing blower motor, or a blocked condenser reduce cooling even with a healthy system.
Relays, pressure switches, the compressor clutch, and blend door actuators can also stop cold air. If the air is cold on one side only, that points to the blend or mode controls.
